sorry to be so late on this thread and maybe it is already dead. If it
is, let's not start again. the reason why I am so late is the local
record shop just got Orbital's the Box on Thurs. I can only say I don't
understand why some of you were disappointed. I have yet to hear
Snivilization and I am only familiar with the first two full lengths. As
far as the Box goes, I can say I wasn't disappointed. Yes, it was different.
But is that not a good thing. Shit, everything RDJ does is different,
that is why we love him so much. That guy never meanders thru
unnecessary redundancy. If that is a good principle for musicians to
have, why can't we hold the same principles for Orbital?
I don't know folks, I can only say that I was happy to hear something a
bit different from the Hartnoll Bros. I am not sure if I liked the ep, it
didn't have too many highlights. Nevertheless, I think some of you should
give 'em a break, if their new release sounded anything like the first
two you'd all give it bad reviews. This was especially true of the latest
B12. Many on the list said they were disappointed b/c it reminded them of
Electro-soma. Are there some of you who are having double standards, I
hope not. Give Orbital another try, you may not have to like the BOX, but
at least they are moving from '91-'93 techno as many of the latest artist
are doing. IMHO they are all starting to kick our asses beyond belief. I
only have to say FREEFORM to prove that.
